Sono arrivati alla quarantesima edizione gli Annie awards ovvero i premi dedicati al miglior prodotto d’animazione dell’anno. La lista dei candidati è lunga: Ribelle The Brave (Pixar Animation Studios), Frankenweenie (The Walt Disney Studio), Hotel Transilvania (Sony Animation Studios), ParaNorman (Focus Features), Le 5 leggende (DreamWorks Animation), Pirati! Briganti da strapazzo (Aardman Animation), The Rabbi’s Cat (GKIDS) e Ralph Spaccatutto (Walt Disney Animation Studios). A sorpresa Mike Andrews e Peter Ramsey, registi di Brave e Le 5 leggende, non sono stati candidati alla miglior regia di un film d’animazione (la cinquina è formata da Hotel Transylvania, The Rabbi’s Cat, Zarafa, Ralph Spaccatutto e ParaNorman).
I film che hanno ottenuto il maggior numero di nomination sono Ribelle The Brave, Le 5 Leggende e Ralph Spaccatutto con 10 candidature, seguiti da Hotel Transylvania e Paranorman (8) e Frankenweenie (5).
