WHICH MOVIE WILL BE REBOOTED NEXT?
A lot of franchise reboots are in the works or at least talked about in Hollywood. Franchises like Police Academy, The Terminator, Tomb Rider or Fantastic Four and many others are discussed to be rebooted, and some will happen whereas others are just ideas that keep being on the development process. Some are not even talked about yet, but they are very likely to be brought up in the next few years, like the Batman franchise, the last three movies being a huge success… James Bond is to be rebooted also, with a new actor to replace Daniel Craig who left the role of 007.
Blade is still uncertain but some would say quite logical. David S. Goyer (He wrote the scripts for Blade, Blade II and Blade: Trinity) recently said: “Now that Marvel/Disney have recaptured the rights, I’m sure it will be remade. They made too much money on that character to not reboot him at some point.” Obviously, this is just a statement of expectation. It will not happen shortly, but there should be a reboot with Idris Elba in the title role. “We’ll probably have to wait just as long to see a new Blade as Black Panther” Peter Martin said.
With the quick rebooting of Spider-Man, Hollywood noticed how much money they can make with this kind of movies, therefore the next five years may be like a century for the studios. Nonetheless, characters adapted directly and faithfully from literary stories (like Harry Potter or Twilight) are not likely to be remade… and as for James Bond, who knows what story will be next! More plausible are properties that can go on with a new star without repeating itself, the way Jack Ryan and Star Trek are doing.
Also, seeing the failure of sequels like Men In Black 3, Reboots might indeed be the right way to make more money, only if the Studios are able to renew themselves…What about Indiana Jones? Wouldn’t you love to see the next, young and fresh Harrison Ford? Who would you like to see in this role? Otherwise, which franchise would you like to see rebooted in the years to come?
